Ransom's Pedigree

Ransom was a single puppy "litter" and was born by C-Section on March 3, 2003.  He literally cost close to $1,000 to bring into the world, thus his name.  He never thought he was a puppy and never wanted to play with any other puppies, preferring to play with young adults of any breed instead.

He went from being a cute baby to being a very geeky young boy and stayed in that geeky stage for over a year!  He kept busy by jumping from snow bank to snow bank in winter and dragging tree branches down the road in summer; yes branches!!

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

September, 2004:  At 18 months of age, Ransom was reserve to a major at his very first dog show. He was quite excited and not well behaved, but the judge really liked him anyway.

October, 2004:  At his fourth dog show, Ransom was Winners Dog for his first point under judge Dr Donald Gill.  Older full sister Spring was Winners Bitch.  What a fun day!

Ransom (L) BOS    Spring (R) BOW

The following day Ransom was not only Winners Dog under judge Carolyn Alexander, he went Best of Breed over a Best In Show winning special!!  He didn't place in Groups, but had a grand time entertaining the ringside spectators.

October 2005: Ransom wasn't shown for 11 months due to my breaking my leg in early 2005.  He earned two more points from BBE class at the Boise shows going WD/BOS under judge Norman Kinney and WD/BW under judge Nancy Simmons.  My not being able to run well enough hindered him, so my hope is that I'm back to normal by April when our show season starts again.

April 2006:  I was able to move a bit better and Ransom won both days we had competition.  Judge Patricia Hess also gave him a Bred By Exhibitor Group 2!

June 2006:  New Champion!!!  Ransom was entered in 7 of 9 shows and flew to the finish line, earning 13 points including both majors in 6 shows!  He won two of three shows at Blackfoot, Idaho, earning 3 points and was then minored out. He also got a BBE Group 3.  We visited friends instead of doing shows in Billings and he stepped up to the plate at Great Falls going WD for a 3 point major and BOW for the crossover 5 point major under judge Joan Anselm!  He was reserve to the major the following day.  On June 25th, he was again WD for the 3 point major and BOW for the crossover 5 point major under judge Judith Goodin!  Ransom was shown exclusively in BBE class and he will receive the AKC BBE Medallion and an invitation to the Eukanuba/AKC Invitational in December!  What a finish!!!

July 2006:  Idaho Sieger 2006 IABCA  New International Champion! Ransom was Bred by Exhibitor Best of Breed at all three shows, Adult Best of Breed at show three, and earned one Bred by Exhibitor Group 1 and Best Bred by Exhibitor in Show!!

August 2006:  We ventured north to Cranbrook, B.C. Canada where Ransom went Best of Winners and earned 4 points.

September 2006:  SCA 2006 National Specialty.  Ransom lost most of his hair in August so wasn't entered in conformation.  Instead, he tried Novice Weight Pull where he completed three runs and pulled a total of 440 pounds.  Although bothered by the resistance and sound of the cart behind him, he did what I asked, did not disqualify and didn't have the highest time either, so I'm quite pleased.  I've borrowed a weight pull harness so practice with and hope to attend at least one sanctioned weight pull next year to earn Working Dog points. He also completed the Intermediate Pack Hike where he carried 25% of his weight and earned 63 Working Dog points.
